President William Ruto has expressed his condolences to the families and friends of Kenyans who lost their lives during Tuesday's deadly protests.

Speaking from State House Nairobi, President Ruto expressed regret over the tragic loss of life during the protests. "On my behalf, and that of MPs and other Kenyans, I send my condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this very unfortunate manner," he said.

The clashes between police and protesters resulted in at least 25 fatalities across major towns in Kenya, with Nairobi experiencing the highest number of deaths at 20. According to the Kenya Medical Association, another 20 individuals are in critical condition awaiting surgeries.

The protests were sparked by controversial legislation aimed at raising an additional Sh346 billion in revenue to alleviate debt and reduce borrowing. In Mombasa, three people were also reported dead.

On Tuesday evening, President Ruto issued a stern warning to the alleged planners of the chaos, vowing to prevent a recurrence of such events.
