There have been several reported instances of abductions as Anti-Finance Bill protests have escalated.

Several prominent social media users and other key influencers have been allegedly abducted and held incommunicado.

But who are some of these individuals allegedly abducted during Finance Bill demonstrations?

Gabriel Oguda, a vocal social media and political activist, was abducted at dawn on Tuesday, June 25, hours before the Finance Bill demonstrations. Oguda was then released 24 hours later.

Speaking after his release, Oguda noted that he was released by the police without any charges preferred against him.

Osama Otero, who has been holding popular X Space sessions during Finance Bill protests rallying the youth to reject the bill in its entirety, was also reportedly abducted by unknown people. He was abducted along with other X Space users such as Drey Mwangi, TemperCR7, Harriet, Shad, Franje, Worldsmith, and Hilla254.

In a similar incident that happened in Mombasa County, Abdulwamad Sheriff Nassir, the Mombasa governor, on Sunday shared footage of a young man being abducted in broad daylight in Bamburi.

The governor remarked that it was part of a wider roundup of Gen Z who have been accused of planning anti-government protests.

In recent developments after President William Ruto's commitment to thwart incidences of abduction, the Law Society of Kenya President Faith Odhiambo raised concerns over another abduction.

She took to her X account on Wednesday saying that Peter Nyamweya was abducted in the early hours of the morning.

"Peter Nyamweya Oginga was abducted today at 9.30 pm in Juja."

The LSK President issued a demand for the immediate release of Peter Nyamweya Oginga.

"We are demanding his immediate release! No more abductions!!!"

Peter Nyamweya Oginga has over the past weeks taken a vocal stance online against the unpopular bill.

On Wednesday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua admitted that there have been increased cases of abductions.

The DP claimed that the son of a prominent figure was abducted and held incommunicado for close to 18 hours.

"It is unbelievable that the son of the honourable Attorney General of Kenya, Justine Muturi, was abducted at night by officers from the National Intelligence Service (NIS)."

President William Ruto, giving a parallel speech on Wednesday evening, broke his silence regarding the recent abductions of Kenyans during the Anti-Finance Bill protests.

Ruto ordered that the group of Kenyans who had been abducted be released unconditionally and no charges be preferred against them.
