Nairobi, Kenya – Celebrated Kikuyu musician and Administration Police Constable Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh, has been declared a deserter by the National Police Service after failing to return from official leave.
According to an internal police memo dated June 9, 2025, Samidoh—attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (MTD Company)—was scheduled to resume duty on May 27, but has not been seen or heard from since.
“The officer was granted an off-duty and was supposed to report back on May 27, 2025, but he failed. Since then, he has not been seen and his whereabouts are not known,” the memo stated.
From Leave to AWOL: What We Know
-
Samidoh’s absence was officially recognized as AWOL (Absent Without Leave) after he failed to report back for more than 10 days.
-
As of June 6, he was formally declared a deserter.
-
His salary has been frozen, and further administrative action has been initiated.
-
The Central Records Office (CRO) has been instructed to publish his desertion notice in the upcoming National Police Gazette.
-
Station Police Commanders (Stapols) across the country have been directed to assist in locating him.
Police Orders: Track Him Down at Home
The Stapol in Gatumbiro, where Samidoh is believed to reside, has been instructed to visit his home and arrest him on sight if found.
Silent Offline, Loud Online
Despite his absence from duty, Samidoh has not addressed the situation publicly. However, what raises eyebrows is his continued activity on social media. A recent Instagram post appeared just two hours before police issued the memo, casting doubt on his "missing" status.
Musician, Officer, and Now... Fugitive?
Samidoh has long walked the line between his musical fame and police duty. The dual life—once celebrated as unique—now seems to be catching up with him.
The silence from his end is feeding public speculation: Is this a simple misunderstanding, a quiet rebellion, or something more serious?
