The results for the DV-2025 Diversity Visa, commonly referred to as the Green Card Lottery, will be accessible online starting Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Individuals who submitted entries for the DV-2024 Lottery within the registration period from October 4, 2023, to November 7, 2023, will have the opportunity to verify whether they have been selected as winners beginning May 4, 2024.

Administered by the US Department of State, the Diversity Visa Programme allocates up to 55,000 Green Cards through a lottery system to nationalities with historically low rates of immigration to the US.

Registration for the lottery is exclusively online, involving the submission of Form DS-5501 on the DV program website, and it is free of charge.

Kenya stands out with one of the highest numbers of winners globally.

To qualify for an immigrant visa, applicants must possess a high school education or its equivalent, or have worked for two years within the last five years in an occupation requiring two years of training or experience.

The Green Card, also known as the Permanent Resident Card, serves as an official identification document confirming the holder's residency status in the US. It signifies lawful permanent residence and grants immigration benefits, including authorization to live and work in the US.

Cardholders enjoy the protections and rights of US law, the ability to live and work in the US without citizenship, and are subject to US taxes.

The State Department emphasizes that there is no fee to enter the lottery, and any claim of fees by a website, individual, or company is fraudulent.

To check their status, participants will need their confirmation number, surname/family name, and year of birth.

Last year, many Kenyan winners of the Diversity Visa 2023 lottery encountered difficulties after the US Embassy in Nairobi announced the cancellation of all remaining Diversity Visa appointments from September 7, 2023, regardless of their stage in the process.
