Guinness World Records is on the hunt for a Kenyan man claiming to possess Africa's lengthiest nails, inviting him to participate in a global competition.
In 2013, the Nation featured John Waweru, who asserted to possess the longest nails in the country and possibly the continent. Mr. Waweru showcased his nails at the Agricultural Society of Kenya show in Mombasa, measuring 1.4ft at the time.
Now, the Guinness World Records team seeks Mr. Waweru to apply for the global competition. "I would love to try and contact him to apply for the record," expressed Guinness World Records Talent Researcher Charlie Anderson via email, encouraging others with long nails to step forward.
Anderson clarified that their interest in Mr. Waweru doesn't confirm his status as the record holder. "Hopefully, he or anyone with longer nails, can earn themselves a place in the next edition of the book," he added.
In 2013, Mr. Waweru earned between Sh2,000 and Sh10,000 a day exhibiting his nails, adorned in the colors of the Kenyan flag. Initially sceptical, his parents embraced his unique endeavor once he began profiting from it.
Expressing his aspiration to feature in the Guinness World Records, Mr. Waweru's dream could materialize if he establishes contact and substantiates his claim to possess the world's longest nails.
