Journalist Stephen Letoo stands firm in response to criticism from some men in Kenya regarding his decision to marry one wife.

Letoo exchanged vows with his longtime partner, Irene Renoi, in a picturesque ceremony held at Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County on April 20. The event garnered attention from notable figures, including politicians and fellow journalists, showcasing their support for the couple.

Among the attendees were prominent personalities such as Citizen TV journalists Linus Kaikai, Swaleh Mdoe, Ben Kirui, Jacque Maribe, and Chemutai Goin, alongside politicians David Ole Sankok and Kisii Governor Simba Arati, among others.

However, Letoo faced criticism on social media, primarily from men, who accused him of espousing monogamy while not practicing it himself.

In response, Letoo, also known as the chairman of the Men's Conference, defended his stance on monogamy and rebuked his critics, asserting that those who failed to attend his wedding would face suspension.

"All those making noise on social media will be suspended immediately. You cannot attack the chairman and fail to attend an event held at Ole Ntimama Stadium," Letoo retorted.

Reflecting on the overwhelming turnout at his wedding, Letoo expressed surprise, admitting he had anticipated a much smaller attendance.

"The turnout surprised me; I only reserved space for 10,000 people in the tents and was amazed to find the stadium full. I was both happy and embarrassed at the same time. If I had known there would be so many people sitting on the mounds, I would have hired cleaners to wash them because they were dusty," he shared.

Despite the criticism, Letoo remains steadfast in his commitment to his marriage and unapologetic about his choice to embrace monogamy.
