An autopsy on the body of Daniel Koikai, father of deceased reggae star Njambi Koikai, revealed that he died from excessive bleeding.

Government pathologist Grace Mirigo conducted the autopsy on Tuesday, June 18, at the Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home.

The results showed that Daniel Koikai allegedly died due to excessive bleeding from two deep cuts on his neck, reportedly self-inflicted.

The pathologist indicated that the deceased used a knife to inflict the cuts, leading to severe bleeding and his subsequent death.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers from Ruiru uncovered details of a text message Daniel Koikai sent to Njambi's sister moments before he passed away.

“Am sorry, it had to come to this,” read the text. His body was discovered at his apartment in Tatu City, Ruiru, on June 14.

When his body was found, he was holding a kitchen knife in his right hand, leading detectives to conclude it might have been the weapon used to end his life.

According to detectives, Daniel Koikai may have been troubled by his absence in Njambi's life when she needed him most, leading to his tragic decision.

Daniel allegedly passed away while his daughter's burial ceremony was underway at Lang'ata Cemetery in Nairobi.

His death came hours after he paid tribute to his late daughter, using the opportunity to apologize and seek her forgiveness.

“Dear Njambi, my daughter, the time has come for me to atone for my acts of omission or commission on your final journey from this world. It has been one of the most difficult episodes in my life," he eulogized.

"Especially for your close family members; your mother, sister, aunts, uncles, colleagues in the media, and friends in and out of the country,” he added.
