Security measures have been intensified around Parliament in anticipation of the Finance Bill 2024 debate.

The session is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM.

Law enforcement authorities have stated they will not permit a planned protest against the Finance Bill 2024.

The protest organizers, calling their movement 'Occupy Parliament,' claimed readiness for a peaceful march, asserting they had fulfilled all necessary requirements.

However, Nairobi Regional Police Commander Adamson Bungei refuted any plans for protests in Nairobi, labeling them as illegal.

Bungei explained that no valid applications for assembly or picketing permits had been submitted, rendering the protest unlawful.

“We received a flawed document dated June 17, 2023, which does not meet the criteria for protest permission,” Bungei stated. “We cannot allow this demonstration.”

Bungei emphasized that Kenyans should continue their daily activities undisturbed and suggested that those with grievances should address them through proper channels.
