Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi has issued a scathing rebuke of President William Ruto, calling for his immediate resignation over what he describes as persistent dishonesty and a failure to uphold constitutional integrity.

Speaking during a candid interview on Spiece FM Thursday morning, Muturi—who previously served in senior positions within Ruto’s administration—did not mince words as he accused the Head of State of being "unfit to hold office."

“I would advise William Ruto to do the honourable thing. Please, Mr. President, resign. You have become an incorrigible liar,” Muturi said. “It is deeply hurtful for Kenyans to watch their President lie in broad daylight. People from all walks of life see it, and it’s unacceptable.”

The former Attorney General added that the President had lost touch with the realities on the ground, partly due to the influence of what he termed as "praise singers" within his inner circle. “He has chosen to surround himself with people who tell him what he wants to hear, not what he needs to hear,” Muturi stated.

Muturi also urged Parliament to invoke Article 145 of the Constitution and begin impeachment proceedings against the President, citing Ruto’s own admission regarding the abduction of Kenyan youths during the Gen Z-led protests.

According to Muturi, Ruto’s public acknowledgment of the disappearances and the subsequent reappearance of abducted individuals raises serious constitutional red flags. “Who authorized their return, and under whose instructions? Mr. President, you appear to know. That alone is a violation of the law,” he asserted.

Muturi has grown increasingly critical of the Kenya Kwanza regime since his dismissal from Cabinet on March 26, 2025, under circumstances that remain unclear. He had previously condemned the government's alleged involvement in unlawful detentions and crackdowns on dissent.

Speaking just days before in Kiambu County, Muturi called for a culture of accountability and truth in leadership, warning against the normalization of dishonesty in public service.

“Leaders must be held accountable for the promises they make. We cannot build a nation on deception. Leadership must be rooted in truth, not convenience,” he said.

His remarks have added to a growing wave of public and political pressure on the Ruto administration, especially in the wake of recent protests and concerns over human rights violations.
