The Kenya Union of Savings and Credit Co-operatives (KUSCCO) has announced a public auction of more than 50 properties across the country, scheduled to take place in three phases on June 5, 10, and 13, 2025.
The auction, which will be conducted by Watts Auctions on behalf of KUSCCO, features residential homes, commercial buildings, and vacant land parcels in counties such as Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Mombasa, and Kakamega.
Although the announcement comes in the wake of a Ksh12 billion financial scandal revealed in a forensic audit of KUSCCO, it remains unclear whether the auction is directly linked to the ongoing financial crisis within the organisation.
Among the prime properties up for auction are:
-
A multi-storey dwelling block in Kisumu near Community Life Church
-
A 0.98-acre parcel in Kaputiei North, Kajiado
-
Several houses and plots in Kitengela, Joska, Sabaki, and Kileleshwa
-
Apartments in Nyayo Estate, a mansionette with a servant quarter in Eastlands, and a three-storey block in Umoja, Nairobi
-
Residential buildings and land parcels in Machakos, Ruiru, Bamburi, Likoni, Shanzu, Ulanda, and Nyamataro
The listed properties span urban, peri-urban, and rural locations, offering investment opportunities for buyers interested in areas close to schools, major roads, and trading centres.
In a joint statement, KUSCCO and Watts Auctions urged interested buyers to undertake site visits before the auction dates, stating that all sales will be considered final and only cash or banker’s cheques will be accepted as payment.
The auction is expected to attract wide interest due to the diverse property portfolio and its occurrence during a time when SACCO members have expressed concern over the organisation’s financial health.
