Detectives in Nairobi have apprehended three robbery suspects accused of abducting a pastor, stripping him naked, and robbing him of Ksh.55,000 in the vicinity of Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday.

The suspects, identified as Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, Alphonse Munyau, and Samuel Musembi Kamito, were captured separately at their residences in Syokimau, Kitengela, and Katani areas, respectively.

A statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday disclosed that the incident unfolded as the pastor was concluding preparations for the upcoming Benny Hinn crusade scheduled to take place at Nyayo Stadium next week.

According to the victim, a pastor at Christ Church, he was heading for dinner after busy preparations when three men intercepted him and forced him into a waiting vehicle.

In a distressing turn of events, the trio reportedly stripped the clergyman naked and photographed him in that state. They then threatened to share the images on social media unless he complied with their demands.

Fearing humiliation, the pastor cooperated, and the suspects withdrew Ksh.55,000 from his M-Pesa account.

After the ordeal, the pastor reported the incident at Nyayo Police Station, prompting a swift response from a team of detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and Langata.

Following forensic analysis and investigative work, the first suspect, Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, was apprehended at Village Apartment Hse No F2 in Syokimau.

Upon the arrest of the three suspects, detectives recovered three mobile phones, including an iPhone 13 that held the SIM card used to receive the stolen money, and a PDQ bank card swapping machine.

The suspects have been detained at Langata Police Station pending arraignment on Monday, facing charges related to abduction, robbery, and extortion.
