The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has apprehended three individuals suspected of abducting and robbing a pastor in close proximity to Nyayo Stadium on Thursday, February 22.

The victim, a pastor affiliated with Christ Church, had been engaged in preparations for the forthcoming Benny Hinn crusade scheduled to take place on Saturday. After a day's work, he was en route to a nearby restaurant when the ordeal unfolded.

According to the pastor's account to law enforcement, he was suddenly accosted and forcibly bundled into a waiting vehicle. Once inside, he was subjected to a harrowing experience where he was stripped of his clothing, and photographs were taken of him.

During the ordeal, the assailants coerced him into divulging his mobile money PIN, threatening to disseminate the compromising images on social media if he refused to comply. Under immense pressure, the pastor transferred Ksh55,000 to one of the perpetrators before being released without any of his possessions.

Upon receiving the report at Nyayo Police Post, the DCI swiftly launched an investigation, utilizing available forensic evidence to track down the perpetrators. Their efforts led them to Village Apartment House No F2 in Syokimau, where the first suspect was apprehended. A search of the premises yielded three mobile handsets, including an iPhone 13 linked to the transaction, as well as a PDQ bank card swapping machine.

Following interrogation, the suspects disclosed the whereabouts of their accomplices, resulting in the arrest of the second suspect in possession of the pastor's phone in Kitengela and the third suspect along Katani Road near Syokimau.

The trio has been remanded at Langata Police Station pending arraignment on Monday.

Meanwhile, preparations for the Benny Hinn crusade at Nyayo National Stadium on February 24 and 25 continue, despite the unsettling incident. Benny Hinn, a prominent pastor from the United States, is slated to lead the event, with his visit facilitated by an invitation from First Lady Rachel Ruto. This marks his second visit to Kenya, aiming to bring spiritual solace and healing to the attendees.
