Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has been admitted at the Nairobi hospital after contracting Covid-19.

This was confirmed by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua during a public meeting held on Tuesday, July 27, at Royal Media Services Owner SK Macharia’s home to celebrate the achievements made in the music industry.

Mutua pointed out that Ngilu had asked her to disclose her health status and deliver her apologies for missing the event graced by ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

Mutua did not disclose how Ngilu was fairing in the hospital but urged the public to ensure they guard themselves against the pandemic.

“She sent me to inform you that we all need to take care against this killer virus due to its prevalent nature,” Mutua stated.

The event was graced by key political figures such as ODM leader Raila Odinga, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria, BBI Secretariat co-chair Dennis Waweru among others.

The event was also graced by celebrated musicians and key players within the entertainment sector.

A spot check on Ngilu’s social media platforms revealed that she had a busy schedule over the past week . Recently, she hosted Garissa County Governor Ali Korane at her office in Kitui where they held discussions on the cooperation between the two counties.

Further, Ngilu has also been attending various meetings alongside Raila, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda.

A recent post dated Monday, July 19, also revealed that she boarded the Madaraka Express train in order to travel to Mombasa where she hailed Kenya Railways for the train’s efficiency.

“Today I used Madaraka Express to travel to Mombasa and I must commend Kenya Railways for the amazing work. It’s so comfortable you can work as you travel. Very cost-effective as well and the attendants are kind and cautious. Very ideal for family travel,” Ngilu stated.

The Health Ministry recently warned Kenyans not to slacken when adhering to the Covid-19 measures imposed by the government.

Currently, the country has 197,959 positive cases with a total of 3,872 deaths reported since the onset of the pandemic.
