Conjestina Achieng', a former boxing champion, reported to work as the head of security at Salama Bling Beach Resort in Kilifi County on Friday, June 16.
Achieng', who is a two-time African champion and a former world title challenger, was appointed to the position by former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
On her first day at work, Achieng' was given a tour of the resort and introduced to the staff. She also met with Sonko, who thanked her for her willingness to take on the new challenge.
Achieng' said she was excited to start her new job and grateful to Sonko for giving her the opportunity.
"I am looking forward to working with the team at Salama Bling Beach Resort and helping to ensure the safety of our guests," she said.
Sonko said he was confident that Achieng' would be a valuable asset to the resort.
"Conjestina is a Kenyan boxing icon. She is a role model for young people and she is a fighter. I am confident that she will be a valuable asset to our team," he said.
