Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, will lead a high-profile delegation to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, for the official launch of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's bid for the African Union Chairmanship. The event will bring together key diplomatic figures from across Africa to support Odinga’s vision for a unified and transformative AU.

“Mudavadi, who leaves the country tonight, will preside over a reception hosted by Kenya to gather support for Odinga’s bid among heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the African Union,” announced the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

Organized under the leadership of Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei and Raila Odinga’s Secretariat, led by Ambassador Elkanah Odembo, this reception is part of a broader campaign to consolidate regional backing for Odinga’s Pan-African initiatives.

Mudavadi’s diplomatic engagement in Ethiopia builds on an earlier campaign launch held in Nairobi on August 27, 2024, led by President William Ruto. According to an official statement, "This engagement with the AU's Permanent Representatives Committee follows President Ruto's launch of the former Prime Minister’s candidature in Nairobi on August 27."

During the unveiling event, Odinga will outline his strategic priorities and vision to drive Africa’s socio-economic transformation. The platform provides an opportunity to engage with African Union stakeholders, forge partnerships, and introduce his roadmap for AU-led continental advancement.

The high-profile reception is expected to galvanize support for Odinga's vision, setting a dynamic tone for his AUC candidacy and demonstrating Kenya’s strong backing for his bid.
