Following his recent impeachment, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has shared that he’s grateful for the time he now has for personal pursuits, such as reconnecting with friends and immersing himself in Bible study. Gachagua admitted that his time in office often left little room for these activities, as well as connecting with religious leaders.
“Leaving office has its positive side, giving me the chance to spend quality time with friends,” Gachagua remarked, emphasizing the importance of genuine relationships.
Speaking on Tuesday at the funeral service for Lucy Wambui Ng'ang'a, Gachagua said he looks forward to reading and reflecting on the Bible, an activity he hadn’t been able to fully commit to previously. In a heartfelt post on November 1, he expressed his joy at being back home in Mathira, surrounded by family, including his wife, Pastor Dorcas, and their two sons.
Gachagua was officially removed from office in a historic impeachment upheld by both the National Assembly and the Senate, making him the first Kenyan Deputy President to be ousted this way. The Senate found him guilty on five of eleven charges.
