Director Trevor has provided insight into the tumultuous aftermath of his breakup with content creator Eve Mungai, shedding light on their romantic history and the subsequent professional fallout.
In an exclusive interview on the Iko Nini podcast, Trevor delved into the complexities of their relationship breakdown and the ensuing business disputes that unfolded.
According to Trevor, the strains in their romantic relationship reached a breaking point in 2023, prompting a discussion with Eve’s parents where they mutually agreed to continue their professional collaboration post-breakup.
Trevor underscored the importance of maintaining a professional demeanor despite their personal differences, as per the agreement reached with Eve’s parents.
“We didn’t end our relationship abruptly; it’s been a while, and we've discussed with Eve’s parents. We decided to separate personally but continue working together, and things were going smoothly until...” Trevor revealed during the interview.
However, their amicable arrangement took a sour turn when Eve breached their 50/50 revenue-sharing agreement, which governed their joint brand encompassing platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and others.
Trevor alleged that Eve demanded a larger share of the profits, arguing her pivotal role as the face of the brand warranted a greater portion.
“We had an equal partnership... but Eve felt she deserved more than 50 percent because she perceived herself as the brand's primary figure,” Trevor recounted.
The situation escalated when Eve, who managed the brand’s Instagram account, insisted that the platform was responsible for the majority of their revenue in 2023, implying she should have more control over profit allocation.
Trevor lamented Eve’s oversight of the collaborative effort behind the brand, emphasizing the importance of treating it as a joint enterprise.
“For me, it was disheartening to see her overlook our shared efforts... This brand is a product of our combined hard work, and it should be treated as such,” Trevor remarked.
Furthermore, Trevor disclosed Eve’s proposal to buy him out of the brand, a proposition he found both infuriating and incredulous given his instrumental role in its inception and growth.
“I found her offer insulting... How could she even suggest buying me out when she fails to acknowledge the true value of the brand? It generates approximately Ksh2 million monthly; she cannot afford to buy me out,” Trevor asserted.
