The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued a public warning over a fraudulent TikTok account impersonating the agency and scamming unsuspecting Kenyans.
In a statement released on X (formerly Twitter), NTSA clarified that it does not operate a TikTok account and urged Kenyans to avoid engaging with or sharing personal information through platforms not officially affiliated with the authority.
“Never share personal information with anyone, especially if it’s not via our official communication channels or the eCitizen platform,” the agency stated.
NTSA emphasized that all its official communications and updates are shared exclusively through:
-
X: @ntsa_kenya
-
Facebook: NTSA KENYA
-
YouTube: NTSA_Kenya

The public has been urged to report any suspicious social media accounts claiming to represent NTSA, and to avoid any form of interaction with such platforms. Individuals who may have been conned or approached by impersonators have been advised to file reports at the nearest police station for further investigation.
“Members of the public conned through such platforms should immediately report to the nearest police station for further action,” NTSA added.
The warning follows a broader pattern of digital fraud in Kenya, where fake social media accounts have been increasingly used to defraud citizens, spread misinformation, and impersonate trusted institutions.
Just a month earlier, the Nursing Council of Kenya issued a similar advisory after reports of scammers offering fake job opportunities while posing as council officials. The Council urged victims to report suspicious activity and share the scammers' contact details with authorities.
As social media impersonation grows more rampant, government bodies are calling on Kenyans to exercise digital vigilance, verify sources, and conduct all transactions only through verified and official channels.
