Detectives have made progress in investigating the tragic murder of Wells Fargo HR Manager Willis Ayieko, discovering the house where he was tortured on Thursday, November 7.

In an update, authorities confirmed another suspect’s arrest. The suspect was found in Bondo Sub-County following a lead from a crime scene re-enactment with a previously detained individual. This re-enactment led detectives to a house in Luanda Doho, Kisa East, Kakamega County, where Ayieko is believed to have endured torture before his death. His body was later found less than 400 meters from this location.

Earlier in the week, police apprehended a bodaboda rider in Kisumu, who is suspected of transporting the main suspect—currently in custody—to the location where Ayieko was abducted.

Ayieko was last seen on October 21, with his handcuffed body discovered a week later near a stream in Gem, Siaya County. The devastating news left his family in anguish, with his brother Aggrey Onyango struggling to understand the motive behind such a brutal crime. “My brother died a painful death,” he expressed, questioning the reason for such a violent act.

At a moving funeral service at All Saints' Cathedral, family and friends honored Ayieko’s memory. His wife, Esther Wagumba, remembered him as a kind, generous man who impacted many lives, sharing anecdotes of his unique style and thoughtful character. “I will miss you...you made everyone feel welcome in our home,” she said, adding with a smile, “Buying you a gift was always challenging—especially clothes. You had expensive taste.”

Ayieko’s body will be transported from Nairobi on Friday, November 8, with his burial scheduled at his family’s home in Central Alego, Siaya County, on Saturday, November 9.
