Mbadi, Joho, Oparanya and Opiyo Wandayi land CS positions in Ruto’s cabinet

President William Ruto has announced his second batch of cabinet secretaries, with members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) emerging as the biggest winners.

The proposed Cabinet Secretaries are; 

  1. John Mbadi (National Treasury)
  2. Salim Mvurya (Investment, Trade and Industry)
  3. Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife)
  4. Opiyo Wandayi (Energy and Petroleum)
  5. Kipchumba Murkomen (Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports)
  6. Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy)
  7. Alfred Mutua (Labour and Social Protection)
  8. Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSMEs Development)
  9. Justin Muturi (Public Service)
  10. Stella Lang'at (Gender, Culture, Arts & Heritage)

Notable omissions from the previous cabinet include:

  • Moses Kuria, former Public Service CS
  • Zachary Njeru, former Water and Sanitation CS
  • Ezekiel Machogu, former Education CS
  • Njuguna Ndung'u, former Treasury CS
  • Aisha Jumwa, former Gender CS

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is the largest winner in the nominations, with three of its members taking up cabinet positions: John Mbadi, Hassan Joho, and Wycliffe Oparanya.
