Despite recent delays caused by the prolonged closure of schools due to floods, the government has announced that there will be no extension of the second term.

Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang has directed schools to adhere to the previously set school calendars and come up with plans to recover lost time.

This decision follows Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu's consideration of extending the term, particularly for Form Four students, to ensure syllabus coverage. However, upon consultation with education stakeholders, it was decided to maintain the original term dates.

Students will have six weeks of learning before the half-term break from June 20 to June 23. The second half of the second term will commence on August 5, with a three-week August holiday.

The third term will begin on Monday, August 26, across schools nationwide.
