Four students from Shiners Boys High School, who are suspects in the recent murder of a fellow student, are set to sit for their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams while in custody. Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, speaking during an exam container opening in Nakuru, shared that the suspects would complete their exams as the investigation continues.

PS Kipsang highlighted that a multiagency team is thoroughly investigating the incident, and the suspects will remain in custody until their court hearing. "The security teams are proceeding with their investigation, and the candidates will take their exams from where they are. The legal process will follow after that," he explained.

The suspects, who had been suspended but returned to the school to sit for their exams, reportedly found some of their belongings damaged and believed the deceased student might have been involved. Tensions escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing on Saturday night. The prime suspect, Dak, a Sudanese national, fled to Nairobi but was apprehended the following day.

The Gilgil sub-county police commander, Winstone Mwakio, expressed concerns about the presence of the weapon on school grounds and questioned the increasing cases of indiscipline at the institution. Dak’s alleged accomplices, also in custody, are expected to testify as witnesses, with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) now handling the case.
