A recent survey conducted by Mizani Africa has identified Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru as the most likely female running mate for President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
The survey, released on Thursday, May 9, evaluated the performance of the Kenya Kwanza regime since its inception in 2022 and explored potential running mates for President Ruto in the next election cycle.
While President Ruto has hinted at the possibility of his party, UDA, selecting a female presidential running mate in the future, it remains uncertain if this will materialize in 2027.
According to the Mizani report, Waiguru emerged as the frontrunner with 42 percent, followed by Trade CS Rebecca Miano at 35 percent, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire at 9 percent, and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga at 7 percent.
Additionally, Trade CS Miano was recognized as the best-performing Cabinet Secretary, scoring 72.3 percent, surpassing her counterparts such as Interior CS Kithure Kindiki.
Kindiki secured a score of 68.4 percent, followed by ICT CS Eliud Owalo (63.4 percent), Foreign Affairs CS Musalia Mudavadi (59.7 percent), and Treasury's Njuguna Ndung'u (56.1 percent).
The report highlighted Miano's exceptional performance, citing various achievements including the establishment of the Karibu Business Support Centre, facilitating bilateral meetings with American companies, and securing a tariff-free flower export deal to the UK for two years.
Miano's efforts also led to the ratification of the Kenya-European Union Environmental Protection Agency and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding with 18 County Governments on County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs).
Furthermore, her leadership was instrumental in resolving numerous Non-Tariff Barriers through a bilateral meeting with Tanzania in Kisumu.
