President William Ruto had no prior plans to visit Homa Bay County on Tuesday, but a change of heart led him to make an unexpected journey following calls from Governor Gladys Wanga.
Initially occupied with a hectic schedule for the day, the Head of State found himself in the lakeside county after being persuaded by Governor Wanga, spending less than two hours there before departing.
Acknowledging the persuasive efforts of Governor Wanga, President Ruto admitted, "It is very difficult to resist Wanga. I had nowhere to hide."
Governor Wanga disclosed that the President's presence in Homa Bay was imperative for an hour as he attended the county's second International Investment Conference at Tom Mboya University.
Despite his visit being unplanned and brief, President Ruto assured that he would revisit Homa Bay to inaugurate various development projects.
Reflecting on Homa Bay's progress under Governor Wanga's leadership, President Ruto emphasized the county's potential as an investment hub across diverse sectors, pledging continued support from the national government.
Expressing his intention to return for future engagements, President Ruto affirmed, "I will be back next year for the Mashujaa Day celebrations."
As President Ruto departed from Kabunde airstrip, Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga arrived, continuing the political engagements in the region.
