Digital strategist Pauline Njoroge is scheduled to appear before the Malindi Law Courts on Monday, July 24, at 9:00 AM, where she will be arraigned on drug-related charges.
Her lawyer, Soyinka Lempaa, disclosed to the media over the phone that Pauline was in the process of being transferred from Watamu Police Station to face the court proceedings in connection with the possession of narcotics.
Lempaa, while vehemently dismissing the charges, asserted that his client was facing harassment for political reasons. He expressed confidence in Pauline's resilience, stating, "We are here at Malindi, and Pauline is upbeat despite spending the weekend in jail with her colleague Jane Nduta."
Dismissing the allegations as baseless, Lempaa accused the authorities of fabricating reasons to detain Pauline. He further denied earlier claims that her arrest was linked to a political post that had allegedly offended the government.
"The authorities have been closely monitoring her activities for some time. Her arrest on Saturday, July 22, was, in their minds, long overdue," Lempaa explained.
Regarding the plea to be entered in court, the lawyer did not disclose whether Pauline and Nduta would plead guilty or not to the charges brought against them.
According to police reports, Pauline was found in possession of a clear container containing ten (10) tablets suspected to be narcotic substances. Additionally, an additional 50 tablets, also suspected to be narcotics, were allegedly found in her possession during a subsequent search.
Lempaa staunchly contested the police report, refuting any claims that Pauline had ever been in possession of any narcotics substance.
Amidst the legal developments, both the Jubilee Party and Azimio Coalition maintained that Pauline's detention was linked to her consistent criticism of President William Ruto's government.
As Pauline Njoroge's court appearance approaches, the case continues to draw attention, sparking discussions about potential political motivations behind her arrest and the nature of the charges against her.
