Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is currently in South Africa for Ethiopia peace talks.

In a picture seen by the Star, Uhuru who wore a white shirt and black trouser was seen getting into South Africa's foreign affairs ministry headquarters.

He was accompanied by his security team to the high level meeting. Uhuru has been lying low since the new government was sworn in last month.

Former Nigerian president Olesegun Obasanjo, former South African deputy president Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka are among the delegates in

the meeting.

The negotiations in Pretoria comes after a surge in fierce fighting that has alarmed the international community.

The international community has been calling for a ceasefire in Ethiopia even as the fights trigger fears for civilians caught in the crossfire.

The Ethiopia’s warring parties started the talks on Monday in a bid to find an end to the brutal civil war that has been raging for two years.

The talks are sponsored by the African Union.

Violence returned to the region in August, shattering a five-month truce.

Fighting has escalated in Tigray with government troops and their Eritrean allies controlling key areas deep in the region.
