Catherine Kerubo has defended the woman who was filmed with her crying child in a Ngong matatu over allegations she had kidnapped him.
According to her, the woman is her elder sister who had just taken the child from her for a while.
The public has poked holes in the story, questioning how the woman left with a child whose name she doesn’t know.
On Sunday, July 11, a story was ran of a woman who was frogmarched to the police station after boarding a Ngong matatu with a child who couldn’t stop crying.
Passengers were ticked off by the fact that the woman was not only unable to calm the young boy, but also didn’t seem to know his name.
In a country where cases of child theft are on the rise, the group took the woman and child to Railways Police Station and spread the word on social media until the baby’s mother was found.
Twist in the Story
After all the public fury and search for the rightful owner of the baby, there is a new twist in the story as the mother, Catherine Kerubo revealed that the lady who was with the little one is her elder sister.
The public has, however, poked holes in the story as most wondered how the lady could possibly not have known the name of her younger sister’s child.
Many opined that there is more than meets the eye because the child did not seem comfortable with the supposed elder sister, something that should come easily between a kid and his aunt.
Rhodah Njeru:
“Serve Ngong passengers with justice. How can my own sister fail to know the names of her nephew/niece? Kenyans are demanding DNA to rightfully save that child.”
Victor Omange:
“The Children’s Department needs to follow up on this story and the children’s welfare. It is very suspicious that a sister would not know her nephew’s name.”
Xzumer Phlorex Margiey:
“Kenyan FBI has refused to accept the allegations that the lady who claims to be the mother is the mother. If that lady was the aunt to the kid, why didn’t she know the child’s name and why did the child cry so much indicating that he did not recognize the so-called aunt?”
Thajoan Wilfred:
No. Am not judging but something must be hidden somewhere and may God forgive me. The kid was with the sister to the mother, funny enough she doesn’t know the name of the kid. How?
