Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has openly expressed admiration for his wife, offering a glimpse into their strong bond during a podcast session with Mic Cheque. Married since 2015 and now proud parents, Sifuna spoke fondly of his wife's influence and support in their family life.
Reflecting on their union, Sifuna shared insights into the cultural significance of their marriage, particularly highlighting the importance of paying dowry in his wife's Matungu tradition.
"In 2015, I officially took her as my wife by paying her dowry," Sifuna revealed, showcasing his respect for cultural customs and traditions.
When questioned about dynamics within their household, Sifuna described himself as laid-back, acknowledging his wife's leadership role and educational achievements.
"She's more educated than me. I respect her a lot and don’t argue with her," he admitted. "Her upbringing in Loresho, where her father was an MP, shaped her."
Sifuna underscored the value of having a supportive partner, praising his wife's unwavering support even in the face of his political activism.
"Every man needs a solid person in their life. Sometimes, she reads messages on social media and laughs at the comments and DMs from other women. She’s not afraid even when I’m involved in political activism," Sifuna remarked.
He further highlighted his wife's role in providing comfort and encouragement, particularly during stressful times such as political engagements.
"When my mother feared for my safety during political events, my wife reassured her and encouraged her to pray for me," Sifuna recounted, illustrating the strength of their familial bonds.
In a lighter vein, Sifuna credited his wife for introducing him to personal grooming habits, including the use of cologne and perfumes.
"I never used them before. She also introduced me to massages," he humorously admitted, reflecting on the positive influence of their relationship.
Despite their journey starting with modest means and informal arrangements, Sifuna affirmed his fidelity to his wife, asserting, "I’ve always been faithful. I’ve never been interested in other women."
Senator Sifuna's candid revelations provide a glimpse into a relationship characterized by mutual respect, support, and shared experiences, reinforcing the importance of strong partnerships in navigating life's challenges.
