The Guinness World Records recently announced its decision to spotlight a remarkable family from Mali, whose story captured global attention when a woman gave birth to nine children (nonuplets) simultaneously. Notably, this family holds the distinction of being the only set of surviving nonuplets ever recorded in the world.

The mother, 25-year-old Halima Cissé, initially believed she was expecting seven children, as two of her babies went undetected during ultrasound sessions. However, she was astonished to deliver nine healthy babies, comprising five girls and four boys.

The babies were born in Morocco, where Cissé had been airlifted (in late March 2021) with the assistance of the Mali government to receive specialized prenatal care.

During her pregnancy and after the birth, Cissé's husband, Adjudant Kader Arby, remained in Mali to care for their older daughter.

In an exciting development, the Guinness World Records revealed on their show that the nonuplets, who are nearing their third birthday, would be traveling to Italy.

The caption on Guinness World Records' Instagram post enthusiastically announced: "World's first surviving nonuplets visit Italy to appear on TV show!" The post provided insight into the family's journey and expressed anticipation for their appearance on the televised talent show "Lo Show dei Record."

In December 2022, at just one and a half years old, the nonuplets embarked on their first plane flight from Morocco to Mali, where they had lived for 19 months. Now, as they approach their third birthday, they are making their debut trip to Europe, captivating audiences with their remarkable story.

The family has been sharing their journey online, offering glimpses into the joys and challenges of raising nine children simultaneously.

Prior to this Mali family's record-breaking feat, the Guinness World Record for the most live births was held by Nadya Suleman of California, who gave birth to octuplets (eight babies) in 2009.
