Michael Olunga, the captain of Harambee Stars and celebrated striker, has invested significant resources in creating a magnificent home for himself in Kabondo Kasipul, Homa Bay County.
Olunga, who plays for Al-Duhail in Qatar, recently returned to Kenya following the conclusion of the football season in Qatar. During his visit, he offered a glimpse of his village residence through a series of photographs shared on his Facebook page. The property boasts a formidable wall fence, a meticulously paved cabro driveway, and opulent houses that exude grandeur even from a distance.
In addition to his own residence, Olunga has also dedicated part of his wealth to provide his parents with a lavish home. Back in 2018, the Harambee Stars striker showcased images of his parents' house on social media, reflecting his commitment to supporting his family.
Michael Olunga's Remarkable Wealth At just 28 years of age, Michael Olunga stands as the second highest-earning footballer in Kenya, with a staggering weekly salary of Ksh7.5 million.
Olunga initially gained prominence during his time at Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia. His remarkable performance for K’Ogallo led to a transfer to Swedish club Djugardens in 2016, where he made 27 appearances and scored 12 goals. After just one season in Sweden, he was signed by the Chinese club Guizhou Zhicheng.
However, his stint with Guizhou Zhicheng was brief, as he made only nine appearances and scored two goals before being loaned to Spanish side Girona FC, where he made 14 appearances and scored three goals.
In 2018, the Chinese club sold Olunga to Kashiwa Reysol in Japan for an undisclosed fee. It was in Japan that Olunga truly flourished, amassing an impressive record of 58 goals in 72 appearances. His prolific scoring earned him the Golden Boot Award in the J1 League in 2020 and drew the attention of Qatari club Al-Duhail, who didn't hesitate to invest nearly a billion shillings to secure his services.
In January 2021, Michael Olunga made a move to Qatar Stars League champions Al-Duhail, signing a three-season contract for a reported transfer fee of Ksh896 million. According to his contract, Olunga's earnings at Al-Duhail are reported to be double what he received at Kashiwa Reysol.
In Japan, he earned a monthly salary of Ksh15 million, which translates to Ksh30 million a month at Al-Duhail, or Ksh7.5 million per week. The only Kenyan footballer who surpasses Olunga in earnings is Victor Wanyama, currently playing for Montreal Impact in Canada, who receives a weekly salary of Ksh £62,000/Ksh 9.3 million.
