Citizen TV's renowned Swahili news anchor, Swaleh Mdoe, finds himself suspended from appearing on air, creating ripples within the media circles.

Sources within the Dennis Pritt Road-based media house revealed that Mdoe faced suspension following his absence from the 1:00 pm bulletin on Tuesday, January 23.

Subsequently, Mdoe remained absent from the screen for over three weeks, sparking speculation among viewers and industry insiders alike.

Reports suggest that Mdoe's absence stemmed from a medical check-up he underwent on the aforementioned day, a matter he purportedly failed to communicate to his superiors, resulting in the editorial director's decision to suspend him.

Upon his return, Mdoe was summoned by management, who informed him of the indefinite suspension from on-air duties.

Despite this setback, Mdoe has continued reporting to work as usual, demonstrating his commitment to his profession.

With a stellar career spanning over three decades, Mdoe has left an indelible mark in the field of journalism. Beginning in 1991, his journey has seen him traverse various print and electronic media platforms, including Kenya Times, Standard Group, BBC, and others.

His tenure at Citizen TV, which commenced in March 2007, solidified his status as a prominent figure in Kenyan broadcasting.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mdoe has amassed accolades, including Journalist of the Year by the Kenya Union of Journalists (KUJ) and multiple News Anchor of the Year (Kiswahili) awards, underscoring his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft.
