Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has spoken out regarding recent allegations of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) directed at her.
In a Live session on her Facebook page, Karen addressed the controversy that arose after a photo of her with a swollen right eye went viral. She expressed her indifference to what people say about her private life but acknowledged that certain incidents had caught her attention.
Karen clarified that the photo in question was taken during a photoshoot, and her partially covered eye was being used by some individuals, particularly women, to settle scores or attack their enemies. She highlighted the seriousness of GBV, emphasizing that it affects a significant percentage of Kenyan women and should not be trivialized.
Having been a victim of GBV in the past, Karen stated that she would never hide such experiences and values honesty. However, she asserted that she was not defending herself because she had not been physically assaulted by anyone. She raised awareness about GBV and called for a more responsible approach to the topic.
Karen expressed her concern about the bitterness exhibited by certain women and questioned how they would react if she were genuinely a victim. She also addressed false allegations against her baby daddy, Samidoh, clarifying that he had not assaulted her.
Concluding her statement, Karen reiterated her determination to defend herself against false accusations, firmly stating that there was no truth to the claims of GBV made against her.
Karen Nyamu is known for her clandestine relationship with singer Samuel Muchoki, popularly known as Samidoh. She previously claimed in a live social media video that he had assaulted her and damaged her phone, indicating her intention to report the matter to the police.
