Nairobi, Kenya – July 1, 2026 — Absa Bank Kenya PLC has partnered with Gen Z Connect by Executive Connect in a new initiative aimed at empowering young professionals, entrepreneurs and emerging leaders through skills development, financial literacy and leadership programmes.

The partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will be delivered under Absa Bank Kenya’s NextGen offering within its Consumer Banking business and will run for one year.

Through the collaboration, Absa and Gen Z Connect will host a series of monthly engagements designed to create opportunities for young people to gain practical knowledge, build networks and engage with industry leaders.

The sessions will focus on key areas including personal leadership and mindset development, financial literacy, money management, entrepreneurship, career readiness, the future of work, digital innovation and financial technology.

Speaking on the partnership, Absa Bank Kenya Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Mwihaki Wachira said the initiative aligns with the bank’s purpose of “Empowering Africa’s Tomorrow, Together, one story at a time.”

“At Absa, we believe that empowering young people is not just an investment in individuals, but in the future of our economies. Through our collaboration with Gen Z Connect, we are creating pathways for the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and financially savvy citizens to thrive,” said Wachira.

She added that equipping young people with skills, mindset and access to financial tools would help create a more inclusive and innovative financial ecosystem where youth become active contributors to economic growth.

Gen Z Connect, an initiative by Executive Connect, has built a network of more than 300 young professionals and entrepreneurs, alongside an active LinkedIn community of over 2,000 followers.

The platform focuses on connecting and empowering young leaders through mentorship, networking forums, entrepreneurship development and financial literacy programmes.

Byron Osiro, Patron of Executive Connect, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting young people with practical tools and opportunities.

“This partnership with Absa represents a powerful alignment of purpose. At Gen Z Connect, we are deeply committed to unlocking the potential of young people by equipping them with practical skills, access to opportunities, and the confidence to lead,” said Osiro.

He added that the collaboration would help prepare young people to participate actively in shaping the future of financial services and driving sustainable economic growth.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of an Executive Connect Leadership Forum held in Nairobi.

As part of the partnership, Absa and Gen Z Connect will roll out co-branded activations and events in Nairobi, with plans to expand the programme to other regions including Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret and Nyeri.

The partnership comes as financial institutions increasingly focus on youth-focused solutions, recognising the growing role of young entrepreneurs and professionals in driving Kenya’s economic future.

Absa Bank Kenya is listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and provides personal and institutional banking, bancassurance and asset management services. The bank operates 91 branches and service centres, 208 ATMs and more than 8,000 agency outlets across the country.
