Fresh details have emerged regarding the mysterious incident where a woman abandoned an unknown person dying inside a hired taxi on July 31, 2023, en route to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Syokimau.

Nairobi Regional Commander Adamson Bungei confirmed on Wednesday, August 2, that the woman was in a hurry when she abruptly alighted from the cab, leaving behind her bag, two mobile phones, and other personal belongings. The police positively identified the lady through the items she left behind in the vehicle.

The circumstances surrounding the incident have raised critical questions for the police. Preliminary examinations of the evidence gathered indicated that the deceased had been poisoned after inhaling toxic substances.

Police suspect that the woman and the deceased may have been in a rocky relationship, providing a potential motive for the heinous act. The woman, who is now the prime suspect, is currently at large, and detectives are working on tracking her down through forensic analysis of the phones she left behind.

To uncover the events leading to the man's death and John Doe's true identity, police officers will expedite investigations. One lead involves the statement given by the taxi driver, who revealed that the woman alighted before reaching her intended destination. When the driver attempted to resuscitate the man, he was unsuccessful, prompting him to alert the police.

Upon their arrival at the scene, police officers seized a bottle of soda, chips, and other belongings for further examination. The car was screened for fingerprints, and authorities are considering conducting DNA tests and analyzing surveillance footage in the vicinity to assist with the investigation.

However, due to the lack of identification documents, establishing the identity of John Doe has proven difficult. His body has been taken to the City Mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Police are committed to solving the case and bringing the perpetrator to justice.
