Elachi Claims Leaders Use Raila Odinga for Personal Gain, Suggests Lack of Seriousness about His Presidential Ambitions

Dagoretti North Member of Parliament, Beatrice Elachi, has made striking remarks suggesting that many political leaders exploit Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga for their own advancement, without genuine commitment to his presidential aspirations.

Elachi's statements, made during a candid interview with K24 on Thursday, shed light on what she perceives as a recurring pattern in political circles. She contended that after each electoral loss, leaders expect Raila Odinga to engage in a temporary fight before eventually relinquishing his quest for the presidency.

"Baba knows we play on him and he is aware that most of the time we are not serious about him becoming the president. We just use him for us to get our positions and after that we are done," Elachi asserted, offering a candid insight into the political dynamics surrounding Raila Odinga's ambitions.

Elaborating on the perception of Raila's support for former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Elachi conveyed a prevailing sentiment that such backing lent credibility to Raila's alignment with the government. The implication of his support was so potent that even after losing elections, skepticism surrounding alleged electoral rigging persisted.

"Raila Odinga will forever carry this 'burden' of supporting the former president when he was finishing his term. That made everyone believe all the support you had was from there," Elachi opined, emphasizing the enduring impact of political alliances.

Elachi advocated for Azimio la Umoja to shift its focus towards the upcoming elections, suggesting that both the government and Raila's faction should strategize for the 2027 elections. Her remarks underscore the evolving landscape of Kenyan politics, where strategic maneuvers and realignments play a pivotal role in shaping the country's political trajectory.

As the nation navigates the intricate currents of political ambition and alliances, Elachi's candid observations offer a glimpse into the complex interplay between leaders' ambitions and the broader political landscape.
