Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Masara has publicly endorsed former ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo’s bid for the presidency in the 2027 General Election, describing him as a seasoned, strategic and nationally grounded leader.

Speaking during an interview on Ramogi TV, Masara praised Owalo’s academic credentials, political experience and long-term planning, arguing that these qualities place him in a strong position to mount a credible presidential campaign.

“Owalo is an educated man and an accomplished strategist who knows exactly what he is doing,” Masara said. “He has consulted widely, planned carefully and walked the political journey with Raila Odinga. He has learnt the ropes of national politics, and if he is the one who can deliver the presidency, then he deserves our support.”

Masara urged Owalo to pursue his ambitions without fear or intimidation, advising him to consolidate grassroots networks and formalise his political vehicle. He added that Owalo would also be welcome within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), describing it as a national party with the capacity to negotiate power from a position of unity and strength.

The endorsement comes just days after Owalo formally declared his intention to vie for the presidency in early January 2026 during a church event in Nomiya, Siaya County. Since then, he has stepped up political consultations and regional outreach, moves that analysts say have steadily elevated his national profile.

Owalo is expected to anchor his presidential bid on a newly rebranded political party, with a campaign agenda centred on economic renewal and governance reforms under what he has termed The Third Liberation. The vision, he says, is aimed at repositioning Kenya’s economy and institutions to deliver inclusive growth and stronger public accountability.

Beyond mainstream politics, Owalo has gained visibility among young people through his role as Patron of Gor Mahia Football Club. His tenure has been linked to improved player welfare, enhanced institutional stability and expanded community sports initiatives, earning him goodwill among youth and sports constituencies.

He has also broadened his influence through policy forums and development caucuses, engaging farmers, teachers, women’s groups and grassroots leaders across the country. In late 2025, Owalo launched a philanthropic foundation that unveiled a multi-billion-shilling development blueprint focused on education, healthcare, digital innovation and community empowerment.

As the 2027 election cycle begins to take shape, Masara’s endorsement adds momentum to growing speculation around Owalo’s political trajectory, positioning him as an increasingly visible contender in Kenya’s evolving presidential race.
