Authorities in Buru Buru have initiated an investigation into the tragic demise of a Grade 8 pupil at Joy Gardens Primary School in Tena-Umoja, Nairobi.
The family of the deceased boy reported that school management informed them of their 13-year-old son's fall from the seventh floor of the school building around 6 pm on Friday.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the school on Saturday to gather CCTV footage in an effort to piece together the events leading to the boy's death.
Expressing skepticism towards the school management's account, the boy's family suspects foul play and is calling for a thorough investigation.
As part of the ongoing inquiry, two directors, the headteacher, and a teacher from the school have been summoned to Buru Buru police station to provide statements regarding the incident.
The deceased pupil's body has been transferred to the City mortuary pending further investigation.
