Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria has voiced criticism towards televangelist Benny Hinn for his recent remarks on the Middle East conflict.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 25, CS Kuria expressed reservations about the content of Pastor Benny Hinn's preaching during a crusade attended by President William Ruto and his family.
CS Kuria highlighted what he perceived as a one-sided perspective adopted by Benny Hinn, who hails from both Israeli and Palestinian heritage, regarding the ongoing conflict in the region.
Questioning the appropriateness of such remarks, particularly in the context of the Nyayo crusade where they were made, Kuria emphasized Kenya's stance on advocating for a peaceful resolution to the Middle East conflict while also standing in solidarity with Israel against terrorism.
"Kenya continues to advocate for a cessation of hostilities while also recognizing the rights of the Palestinian people for self-determination," remarked CS Kuria.
Benny Hinn, who was born in Jaffa, Israel, in 1952 and baptized in Jerusalem, comes from a diverse background with Greek, Palestinian, and Armenian ancestry.
Kenya's Foreign Policy on Middle East Affairs has been consistent in condemning terrorism and supporting efforts towards a peaceful resolution. President William Ruto has previously condemned attacks on Israeli soil by extremist groups like Hamas and has expressed support for a two-state solution during discussions with regional leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
