In an unsettling déjà vu, six vehicles found themselves entangled in a harrowing collision along Nairobi's Southern Bypass, merely two weeks after a series of accidents claimed lives on the same stretch.

A video circulating online captured the heart-stopping moment when chaos unfolded at the Lang'ata Interchange, as six vehicles became a precarious stack of metal.

Amid this vehicular puzzle, a white Toyota Prado became the unwitting centerpiece, being thrust into a nearby ditch, its body bearing the scars of the unexpected collision.

The Prado bore the brunt of the accident, losing its bonnet and front wheel in the brutal clash of metal and momentum.

As we report this incident, the scene has become a flurry of activity, with emergency responders and vigilant traffic officers racing to mitigate the crisis.

However, in this unfolding drama, the cause, extent of damage, and any casualties remain shrouded in uncertainty, as the police are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.

This unsettling mishap unfolds a mere fortnight after another tragedy marred the Southern Bypass, claiming the lives of three individuals.

The earlier catastrophe unfolded when a truck spiraled out of control, colliding with a personal vehicle that was subsequently thrust into a nearby drainage. Eyewitnesses recalled the horrifying sight of the vehicle somersaulting multiple times in the aftermath of the collision.

Increasingly, motorists are pointing fingers at recent maintenance efforts along the Southern Bypass, alleging that these initiatives are imperiling the lives of those who rely on this vital roadway.

In October, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen conducted an unannounced inspection of the highway in response to a barrage of complaints from motorists regarding new speed bumps that had been installed along the route.

According to these motorists, the newly erected bumps were excessively high, causing drivers to lose control of their vehicles. Additionally, they decried the absence of adequate road signage and indicators along this bustling thoroughfare.

In response to these concerns, CS Murkomen mandated the deployment of police officers to oversee the road's safety and security.
