President William Ruto received a warm welcome during his development tour in Kisumu, expressing his gratitude to the people of Nyanza, particularly Kisumu, for their hospitality.

Addressing the crowd, he said, "First and foremost, to the people of Nyanza, and Kisumu, thank you so much for welcoming me home, here in Kisumu."

Ruto also acknowledged the support he received in the region during the elections, saying, "I want to thank you for the little votes I received from you. We had agreed that after the elections, we would now focus on matters of development, and that is why I am here."

The President emphasized the importance of the projects he was launching, which had been long overdue, with residents waiting for over 20 years to see them come to fruition.

One of the key events during his visit was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kabonyo Fisheries and Aquaculture Service and Training Centre in Nyando, Kisumu County.

President Ruto is on a four-day development tour in the region and is set to chair a Cabinet meeting in Kisumu County, a significant move as it marks the first time a sitting president has held such a meeting in the Millennium City, which has traditionally supported opposition leader Raila Odinga.
