The Moja Expressway Company has announced that three toll stations on the expressway will remain closed due to damages sustained during the anti-government protests that took place on Wednesday.

In an update provided on Thursday, the company stated that motorists will not be able to access the Mlolongo, Syokimau, and SGR Toll Stations as they are currently closed.

For the safety of motorists, the company advised those traveling on the Westlands-Mlolongo route to exit from JKIA, while motorists heading from Mlolongo to Westlands should safely join the Nairobi Expressway from the JKIA Toll Station.

The Moja Expressway Company appealed for patience from motorists as they work to restore the affected sections of the road to their original condition before the vandalism occurred. Enhanced security measures will be implemented before operations resume on the road.

Motorists were urged to avoid using the affected route, especially those heading towards Mlolongo, and to seek alternative routes during this period.

Mlolongo was one of the areas where violent scenes unfolded during the anti-government protests organized by the opposition. The chaos resulted in at least three people being seriously injured and caused damage of unknown value to the Nairobi Expressway.

The Moja Expressway Company acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and assured the public that efforts were underway to address the situation promptly. Updates regarding the reopening of the affected toll stations at Mlolongo, Syokimau, and SGR will be communicated to the public in due course.
