Lang'ata Member of Parliament, Phelix Odiwour, popularly known as Jalang'o, revealed on Monday, July 10, that he has been removed from all ODM communication platforms, including WhatsApp groups, leaving him uninformed about party affairs.
In an interview with NTV, the first-time MP expressed his confusion and shared that he only receives information about the party through rumors and hearsay.
His predicament began after he started working with President William Ruto, which led to his exclusion from the ODM communication channels.
"Now I have been excluded from all party communications. So even if there is anything the party wants support on, I won't know. Maybe you'll hear about it through rumors in parliament... It's a difficult time because I feel like an orphan there," he explained.
However, Jalang'o stated that he has no regrets about his decisions and will continue collaborating with the President.
"When all those seven judges said that the President is William Ruto, and later on, I began to see his visions and what he is trying to accomplish, I said, 'This is the direction I want to take. I want to work with the President, and I will not turn back,'" he asserted.
When asked if he plans to leave the party that sponsored him, Jalang'o reaffirmed his commitment to ODM, stating that he has no intentions of abandoning the party despite his collaboration with the President against party wishes.
"Baba Raila Amollo Odinga, the ODM party, and the Azimio coalition, I have not left the party, I do not plan to leave, and I will not leave," he emphasized.
Jalang'o clarified that his actions were not intended to betray or disrespect the party or its leadership.
"I am an independent mind, and I am not violating the party or showing any disrespect. I have decided to work with President William Ruto," he clarified.
Recently, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina urged renegade ODM MPs who have shown support for the Kenya Kwanza government to resign. He suggested that they should seek a fresh mandate through the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The senator expressed his frustration with the ODM legislators' frequent visits to State House and called on them to seek the people's mandate through their newfound alliance.
Jalang'o's exclusion from the ODM communication platforms and his collaboration with President Ruto have further intensified the political dynamics within the party, raising questions about the loyalty and alignment of various ODM members.
