In a powerful display of public discontent, the Saba Saba protests orchestrated by the Opposition have surged in popularity, spreading their influence across the entire country.

The demonstrations, captured in compelling videos that have since gone viral, commenced as early as 9 am on Friday morning, with individuals from diverse backgrounds joining forces.

Although the opposition spearheads these protests, various influential lobby groups have also united under a common cause.

Within the heart of Nairobi, a determined assembly of protestors congregated near the former Hilton Hotel, collectively voicing their demand for the government to alleviate the burden of high living costs. However, this peaceful expression of frustration led to the apprehension of several individuals.

In Kisumu, impassioned locals took to the streets, blockading roads and igniting fires in response to the rallying cry of Azimio leader Raila Odinga. In anticipation of potential unrest, law enforcement officers are currently stationed throughout the city.

Meanwhile, in Mombasa, activists and residents flooded the streets in the early hours, driven by their shared outrage at the skyrocketing cost of living. Despite their peaceful intentions, the police resorted to using tear gas canisters to disperse the demonstrators. The activists, wielding colorful placards and chanting "We go! We go!" were swiftly disrupted.

Reports emerging from Mathare earlier in the day depicted a group of young protesters barricading the Thika Superhighway and hurling stones at passing vehicles. Footage circulating on social media showed numerous vehicles executing U-turns to avoid the chaos. The swift intervention of the police, however, quickly quelled the unrest.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the government has intensified security measures throughout the country, focusing particularly on areas susceptible to violence.

Raila Odinga, a prominent figure in the opposition, is set to lead a rally at the renowned Kamukunji Grounds. This gathering will not only mark the commencement of a signature collection initiative but also potentially inaugurate the second phase of anti-government protests. Simultaneously, Azimio co-principals will galvanize supporters in other regions across the country.

As part of the opposition's comprehensive strategy, after the rally in Kamukunji, the protesters will march en masse to the Central Business District, according to the organizers' plans. Multiple gathering points are expected to materialize in Nairobi, including Kamukunji and Kibera, before converging on the CBD.

In Ukambani, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will lead an anti-government rally in Kathiani, Machakos County. Additionally, Azimio's deputy captain and Narc Kenya Leader, Martha Karua, will unite other Mt Kenya leaders affiliated with the opposition for a significant rally in Murang'a.

The Saba Saba protests have rapidly transformed into a movement that resonates deeply with Kenyans from all walks of life. With the opposition orchestrating these demonstrations, citizens are actively assuming ownership of grassroots resistance, further intensifying pressure on President William Ruto's administration.

As the nation waits with bated breath, the Saba Saba protests epitomize the collective outcry for change, fostering an atmosphere of urgency and anticipation for a brighter future.
