President William Ruto has asked for forgiveness from his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta, at the National Prayer Breakfast meeting held at Safari Park on Wednesday.

Ruto said that he asked for forgiveness from Uhuru during last year's National Prayer Breakfast, and that it was quite a coincidence that this year's theme is all about reconciliation.

"I remember during the 2022 prayer breakfast I was asking for forgiveness from my friend the former President Uhuru Kenyatta, it is interesting that in our first prayer meeting, we are discussing forgiveness," he said.

Ruto said that it is important for leaders to be able to forgive each other, and that he is committed to working with Uhuru to unite the country.

"We may have our differences, but we are all Kenyans and we must work together to build a better future for our country," he said.

Ruto's request for forgiveness comes at a time when the country is deeply divided ahead of the general election.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition, led by Raila Odinga, has accused Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza coalition of being divisive and of stoking ethnic tensions.

Ruto has denied these accusations, and has said that he is committed to uniting the country.

The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event that brings together leaders from all walks of life to pray for the country.

The event is organized by the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB).

In his speech, Ruto urged Kenyans to pray for peace and unity in the country.

"I urge all Kenyans to pray for peace and unity in our country. We need to come together and work together to build a better future for our children," he said.

Ruto's request for forgiveness and his call for peace and unity have been welcomed by many Kenyans.

However, some Kenyans have expressed concern that Ruto's request for forgiveness is a political stunt.

They argue that Ruto is only asking for forgiveness in order to win votes in the upcoming election.

Only time will tell whether Ruto's request for forgiveness is genuine or not.

However, one thing is for sure: the National Prayer Breakfast has provided a platform for Ruto to reach out to Kenyans and to ask for their forgiveness.
