President William Ruto took a proactive step on Friday by submitting his tax returns at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) offices just before the deadline. Accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Ruto arrived at approximately 8:15 am.
The KRA personnel in charge of serving Ruto confirmed that the President had successfully fulfilled his tax obligations. Expressing their enthusiasm, they stated, "You are our very first customer. We have filed the returns, and the certificate has been sent to your email."
The entire process, from arrival to completion, took a reasonable amount of time.
Ruto's decision to file his tax returns publicly is aimed at encouraging other Kenyans to do the same. The deadline for filing the 2022 tax returns is set for June 30.
After completing the tax-related task, Ruto's schedule for the day included attending the Madaraka Day SMEs, Cooperatives, Trade, and Revenue Expo at Embu University. The event was intended to support and showcase small and medium-sized enterprises.
At 11 am, Ruto had a scheduled appearance to inaugurate a new wing at Embu Level 5 Hospital, demonstrating his commitment to improving healthcare facilities.
Later, at noon, he was set to officiate the opening of Winas Sacco in Embu Town, highlighting his support for cooperative and economic development initiatives in the region.
