National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has released a report of counties with the highest cannabis use.
According to the findings of the NACADA survey, 'bhang' ranked fourth among the most abused drugs in the country, trailing only alcohol, tobacco, and khat.
Here is the breakdown of the counties:
Nairobi - 6.3 percent
Nyanza - 2.4 percent
Coast - 1.9 Percent
Eastern- 1.5 percent
According to the report, the national prevalence of cannabis use is 1.9 percent.
Cannabis use was found to be highest in men, at 3.9 percent, with women coming in at 0.3 percent.
According to NACADA, online sales of alcohol and other drugs have increased drug abuse in the country, complicating the fight against substance abuse.
Among NACADA's recommendations to combat the scourge is a proposal to amend the ADCA 2010 and the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act, 1994.
NACADA hopes that this will address emerging supply suppression challenges such as online sales and marketing of alcoholic beverages, drugs, and other substances of abuse.
