Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot now says that President William Ruto will succeed in fighting cartels in most industries except for two.
According to the Kericho senator, the two sectors are extremely powerful and influential.
The sectors are Kenyan Banking and the media, Cheruiyot said.
He added that these two sectors work in sync to protect each other and that a compromise is needed for the good of the public.
"President Willian Samoei Ruto will succeed in crushing every cartel in the country save for two that are extremely powerful. 1. KE Banks 2. KE Media Both are very powerful, influential, and synergise so well to protect each other's interests. For the public good, a way must be found," Cheruiyot tweeted on Monday.
Since getting into power, the Kenya Kwanza administration has been reorganising the government.
Some office holders who were appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta have been dismissed or reassigned as those allied to Ruto take charge.
Some of the key organisations that have been affected include; the DCI, Police, KRA among other state departments.
In the run-up to the August 2022 general elections, President William Ruto campaigned on the platform of doing away with cartels from the key sectors, who have burdened Kenyans with high cost of goods.
He also promised to revive the economy and lower the prices of commodities.
In December last year, during a meeting with Regional and County Commissioners, Ruto said getting rid of brokers and middlemen in the food production chain will help reduce the cost of food production.
He said intervention at the production level if done right and targeted, will make farmers produce more.
