Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, on Wednesday, February 8, revealed that rebel MPs would be disciplined for meeting President William Ruto without the blessings of the party.

Speaking to the media, Kioni stated that disciplinary steps were already being taken and that, eventually, the MPs would be called to answer charges levelled against them.

"I am not in support of the meeting. Attempts to get my opinion on the matter were denied by the members.

Disciplinary measures have commenced against the members as we speak," he disclosed.

Kioni further revealed that the move by Ruto was a scheme to ensure no dissenting voices against his regime.

"We are aware that this move by Ruto is to kill in contrary opinion and to ensure that there is no voice to speak against the ills of his illegitimate government,

He is intent on hiking taxes, selling public facilities like government parastatals and passing policies without any opposition," he added.

The former Ndaragwa legislator stated that Ruto did not mean well for the country, accusing him of buying any dissenting opinion. Kioni also affirmed that the actions of the MPs did not in any way hamper the party's activities in the Azimio Coalition.

"Those MPs in the State House meeting have never attended our rallies. That does not in any way affect our activities. We will however deal with the issue with our internal party structures," he disclosed.

On whether the significance of the meeting paints the party negatively, Kioni argued that they drew strength from the masses as a party.

"Individuals who were given the mandate to represent the people are not in Parliament as they were rigged out by this regime. Legitimate leaders are the ones outside advocating for the rights of the people,"

If the Jubilee Party Leader, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was aware of the meeting, Kioni revealed that Kenyatta understood the political dynamics in the country.

"Uhuru has been in charge of this country for a while. He has always maintained that if you want to move in politics, you move with those willing. You are stronger as those outside supporting," he opined.

According to Kioni, Jubilee's party position was guided by the needs of the people.

"Our people are suffering and that is why we will also launch the 'Njaa Movement' in our subsequent rallies beginning with Mavoko as part of the revolution," he noted.

In his submissions, Kioni observed that President Ruto sought to have an absolute majority in Parliament, thus his desperate moves.

"He wants to be President for life because he is in power illegitimately. A commission of three cannot override four members.

Ruto is jittery because our rallies are putting the heat on his government. Why go behind the curtains to meet elected leaders?" he paused.

Kioni's outburst was necessitated by President William Ruto's meeting with a section of ODM MPs from Luo Nyanza on Tuesday, February 7. The opposition lawmakers pledged to work with the government.

The ODM leadership would, however, call out the legislators, accusing them of selfishness and undermining the party's hierarchy.
