The window, as per the statement, will run until February 6 in 2023. In addition, the teachers' employer clarified that only teachers serving under permanent and pensionable terms of service (P&P) in public primary schools are encouraged to apply.

To qualify, candidates will be required to have at least C+ (Plus) mean grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate or any other assessment equivalent to it.

In addition, TSC stated that interested persons should have at least a C+ (Plus) in the two teaching subjects at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent.

Candidates seeking to be deployed in the new JSS must also have at least 8 units in each of the two teaching subjects and should be primary school teachers at the time of application.

Junior secondary schools are expected to commence activities on Monday, January 30, according to a circular from the Ministry of Education.

In preparations for the landmark transition of grade six graduates, the government embarked on a process of upscaling staffing through the popularized 30,000 vacancies announced in December 2022.

While releasing the 2022 KCSE results, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced that the process of executing the transition was in good progress after the approval of additional guidelines regarding the management of JSS.

The CS also announced plans by the government to allocate more funds towards the process of ironing out challenges that threatened to cripple the Competency-Based-Curriculum implementation in public schools.
