Retired president Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly ventured into the tourism sector after retiring from active politics.
Uhuru plans to establish a multi-million tourist lodge in Narok that will not only boost the economic status of the county but also exploit the multi-billion industry.
The 4th president, who bought the piece of land in 2020 from the Olerein and Kengani group, recently toured the Maasai Mara Game Reserve in the county on holiday, engaged with area residents and delivered a bus to Partakilat Primary School.
Photos of the former president strolling the streets of Narok near Zebu Lodge were also shared online, with reports indicating that he was scouting the area.
His 1,000-acre ranch in Narok located at Oloolmongi, Lolgorian Ward, overlooks the Maasai Mara Game Reserve offering a unique view to tourists.
According to the area senator, Ledama Ole Kina, Uhuru settling in the county is a clear indication of the potential it holds.
"President Uhuru, welcome and thank you for choosing Narok County as a place to celebrate the New Year and also to retire," Ledama stated in 2021.
Notably, the president also established a new sub-county in the area, the Trans Mara South sub-county, which led to the development of Angama Airstrip set to unlock the region.
Angama Airstrip was revamped to facilitate commercial flights.
"The international airport will help us grow. We are yet to fully interact, but soon he is expected to meet the elderly," Ole Kina stated.
Narok residents also benefitted from the revamped Ksh1.3 billion 43-kilometre Kilgoris-Shartuka-Esoit-Murkan-Emurua-Dikirr roads constructed during Uhuru's tenure.
Uhuru also vowed to create jobs for the youth and establish primary schools with internet connectivity.
